Its been way to long since I updated our blog!! Since the last post we have had a little girl who is almost 2 (as of Feb. 2014). In some ways it seems like yesterday we were rushing to the hospital with my in labor. In other ways all of our daughter, Addalynn's, health issues make it seem like 5 years.
Addalynn was born and it was discovered right away that she was having a hard time eating. Re assumed reflux since Landon had it and started treating. Feedings would take 3-4 hours with Addalynn struggling to swallow her milk. She also begin to have issues with her lungs congestion. After taking her to a pulmonologies and starting to thickening anything she eats she improved but continued to have chronic bronchitis. We started breathing treatments, inhalers, and CPT (chest physical therapy). In November when Addalynn was 9 mo old we completed a swallow study and discovered she had a swallow disorder causing her liquids and reflux to go into her lungs. We begin therapy 3 times a week at Baylor. By this time she had began getting chronic sinus infections and it was suspected that she had cystic fibrosis, thankfully the test came back negative.
After her 6th sinus infection before she was 1 year old we took her to an ENT and then removed her adenoids and put in ear tubes. This didn't improve things and she continued to get sinus infections. In April we started antibiotics in a machine that sent them straight into her nasal passage and preformed a CT scan to check. Everything came back clear and we were sent to a immunologist to check for an immue disorder like her grandma. (Donna). The results took over a month but they also came back clear, another HUGE blessing!!
Addalynn stayed well until the cold weather has started sinus infections again but they are more manageable now with out the swallow disorder, reflux, and chronic bronchitis. She has a large amount of daily medicines that help keep the infections at a minimum but we hope she will continue to see less and less infections. As of now Addalynn has been treated for 14 sinus infections but only a few this fall/winter season.
